I love using blue and white Chinese porcelain outdoors and I live in the DC area where we do have winter. I keep my Chinese garden stools and ginger jars out all year round - some have been outdoors for 20 years with no deterioration whatsoever. Planters are a different matter where water in the soil can freeze and expand and cause cracks. I just counted and have eight blue and white Chinese garden stools in my garden and have started a bit of a trend in my neighborhood with them popping up.
