The Chinoiserie Stair Runner

In exploring ideas for the Chinoiserie stair runner, we have looked at three choices that I love - leopard (chic and very practical hiding everything), sisal (with an interesting detail like a Greek key border or dragon tail end), and black and white Greek key (such a classic). Today, we add a fourth great idea. This is a shot in the Tory Burch Manhattan flagship store. It has an over the top fabulous combination of Chinoiserie wallpaper, an incredible brass Chinese Chippendale banister, and a black and white geometric runner. David Hicks also has some stunning black and white geometric choices that have become quite the rage. While I am not the biggest fan of Tory Burch clothing, I love her style in interior design and I think her stores are gorgeous.

  1. I so agree with you about the TB clothing (and her ballet flats are uncomfortable), but her homes are stunning, as is that NY shop with that amazing bannister. I love each of the options you share for the stairs. I will live vicariously through you and learn so I can make a good choice for my little house, too!

  3. Just a caution! As a designer, I have become very cautious about recommending sisal for stairs, as I had it installed for a client who loved it, but her little Maltese got his nails caught in it repeatedly and tore a paw very badly. This may not apply to you, and I certainly love the look and the wearability, otherwise.
