Here is my kitchen now. The good news is that I adore my kitchen - the cabinets, the countertops, the floor, the wall color, the layout. In fact, the kitchen is the original kitchen in this beautiful fifty year old Georgian colonial of mine. The second owners (we are the third) updated it, painting the original wood cabinets white and adding the tile floor, Corian countertops, island, glass cooktop, and white tiles. I love green and painted the previously white walls in a beautiful mint green and repainted the cabinets and trim in my favorite white.
All I want to do over the next six weeks is to have fun bringing in new lighting, window treatments, art, and accessories, with lots of Chinoiserie, of course. I am starting with two wonderful Chinoiserie pieces already - the pair of Chinese Chippendale counter stools in Brunschwig & Fils Xian that I had coated for the ultimate in kitchen use and spill protection. Can't wait to see it!
ReplyDeleteSince I am in a major construction/remodel of my kitchen/library/dining room, I have to admit I do click on pictures of finished kitchen just to lower my blood pressure!
ReplyDeleteThis is going to fun watch it come aline CC style. I can't tell you how lucky you are your kitchen didn't require a gut job!
Since reading your blog I have become a fan of chinoiserie and have made several purchases based upon your recommendations, most recently one of your sponsor's paintings- love it! It was refreshing to read someone LIKES their space! Looking forward to watching your progress.
ReplyDeleteLove your wall color, and see it mixing beautifully with Ming blue! ;)
ReplyDeleteI love your mint walls, white cabinets and bar stools. Will you be changing the hardware? There are a lot of Greek key pulls out there.
ReplyDeleteI had to come back for a second look. Do you know the name of that mint paint?
ReplyDeleteBeth - I am LOVING those bar stools - what a great inspiration piece for your room. Also - what's that mint paint?? I have a similar color in my LR - White Mint by SW. Love it!!!!

I'd sell an organ for faux bamboo counterstools.
ReplyDeleteHow do you have your fabric seat cushions coated?
ReplyDeleteLisa - I was fortunate to find some on eBay that someone had left over from a project. You have to find a company that does fabric coating and there is a minimum yardage requirement generally as well.
