The Shaded Chandelier

Since my post yesterday on Kendall Wilkinson, I have been fixated on the shaded chandelier. I love the idea of a huge sheer drum shade over my crystal chandelier. This style has become popular of late with the shade and fixture sold as a set, but I was curious if one could find the shade by itself. I found this very pretty albeit shallower version below at Shades of Light. There is also a do it yourself version here. Have you see any other sources? I'd love to try this myself.

  1. If you're the DIY type you could easily do this. I see those big old drum shades all the time at thrift stores. All you would have to do is strip the shade of the old (usually plastic) "fabric" and recover it with your black organza.

  2. Beth my girlfriend Marian has one with a cream silk colored shade, gorgeous, I will find out where she found it.

  3. i first saw this style in Brazil about 3-4 years ago. I had my shade custom made at a local shop - but not before a trial (and error). The end result is stunning. Its not sheer but just about 2 inches of crystal hangs below the shade. The interior is a bright white silk which gives another stunning perspective when seated at the table having dinner. The first shade too big was sent to the second hand store.....

  4. Amazing design, so luxurious! The neo-baroque inspiration makes me think about the italian company Sige Gold. So contemporary and chic!
