Friday From My Chinoiserie Home
One of the most common mistakes I see in people's homes is lack of attention to light bulbs. Even the most beautiful lamp can cast awful light if you are using generic white incandescent bulbs or those ghastly compact florescents. My favorite light bulb for lamps is the Sylvania Soft Pink in either a 60 watt or a three way. Pink bulbs are flattering to everyone's complexion and cast a lovely warm and rosy glow. The pink is very subtle and works in every room, but is amazing in bedrooms and bathrooms, casting a beautiful and natural light. If you have a room that appears stark, you won't believe the difference this will make. If you don't find them locally, which is increasingly the case, they are easily found and ordered online.

I read that the US government has banned sale of regular light bulbs in a few years. We must all switch to ulgy corkscrew 5 yr fluorscents. First they cast an ugly light, they DO NOT last 5 years, and they have mercury in them and that goes into landfills! Easy Bake Ovens will not be made anymore then I hear. I am stock piling pink bulbs!
ReplyDeleteMarie Arden-Specialty bulbs including pink, will not be included in the ban, thankfully.
ReplyDeleteYou are so on top of it with these bulbs. LOVE THEM!!! Great post today!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great suggestion. I agree, these bulbs are very flattering.
ReplyDeleteI use orange or apricot bulbs all over our home, and they look so much better. The only problem is the EU has banned the sale of them from August this year, so we're currently in the process of stockpiling.
