Chinoiserie Chic turns two years old today-can you believe it? This is my 795th post. I have truly enjoyed it all, and my life is the better for it. I also find it quite fun that the term "Chinoiserie Chic" that I created to name my blog because I liked the Ch-Ch alliteration has become common parlance in interior design. I get many Google alerts daily with the term Chinoiserie Chic, from posts, posts, posts, posts, posts, and more posts, to magazine articles, Etsy items like here, here, here, and here, eBay auctions, weddings, more weddings, fashion, fabric, online stores, even the San Francisco Fall Antiques Show lecture series, and a workshop at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, all being called "Chinoiserie Chic" to convey the modern approach to using Chinoiserie. Pictured just below is a lovely dining room by Ruthie Sommers that was the subject of my very first post. To celebrate, I am giving away two wonderful books that reflect the best of this interior design style. The first is Mary McDonald's book Interiors, The Allure of Style, and the second is Domino The Book of Decorating, with its de Gournay cover. The winner will receive both books. Leave a comment on this post by midnight Friday, May 6th for a chance to win and to say hi. If you are a follower or become a follower, mention this to double your chances. The winner will be announced Saturday. Thanks to all for following Chinoiserie Chic and for your comments, emails, and suggestions.

Happy 2nd Bday! I'm a follower and a fan.....always lovin' all things chinoiserie!
ReplyDeleteHappy Second Anniversary/Blog Birthday to you! I discovered your blog last year during a search of the term "Chinoiserie" and have been following you ever since. I had shown a decorator friend of mine the few items I had inherited from my mom; her blue onion china, her gold dragon tea set, and her pagoda lidded candy dish! She said "your mom must have loved Chinoiserie". Who knew? Now I love it too. I have since learned so much from you that has definitely added a fun new facet to looking at magazines, shopping for my home, and remembering my mom. I like that Chinoiserie works whether it is a single item accent or the foundation of a whole room or house. Does any other style do that so well? Thank you so much...
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on 2 years! I am a new follower to the blog and, before reading, I had no idea there was such a style as Chinoiserie. I love antiqueing and decorating, but I'm an ammature. I always loved this style, but I didn't know there was a name for it! Thanks for broadening my decorative horizons!

ReplyDeleteI had no idea how much I loved Chinoiserie until I found your marvelous blog! Congrats on your 2nd birthday! (BTW, when you posted your April Fools joke I was so sad, because I had just found you! Thank goodness was a hoax!)
ReplyDeleteBeen following you AND following your advice on my chinoiserie questions/direction (brick walls, bookcases). So glad I found you! Happy Anniversary!
ReplyDeleteお誕生日おめでとうございます

My daughter told me about your blog many, many months ago. You have been on my "favorites" list ever since. Domino was one of my favorite magazines, so it was a sad day when it ceased publication - happily you stepped in with your blog to take up the slack!!
I've been working asian into my design aesthetic for years, calling it "Asian Fusion." I've been so happy to find your site for inspiration. Happy Birthday!
