A Lonny Chinoiserie Mystery

A follower of Chinoiserie Chic and eagle eye emailed me that the Farrow & Ball wallpaper Wisteria in this Lonny kitchen above I posted on last week is upside down. She is of course correct-below is wisteria as it grows and below that the same wallpaper hung correctly. I wonder if this was done on purpose or accidentally? I much prefer it hung the right way-it looks more graceful. Quite interesting.

  1. Interesting. I prefer it the right way too. A mistake perhaps?

  2. I was the one who noticed this --mainly because I have been considering this wallpaper in a different colorway for a bathroom, so it immediately caught my attention. I can't imagine it would have been on purpose, but who knows. Could have been that the paperhanger wasn't sure. I had an aunt who had to order more wallpaper because her husband and son put up wallpaper upside down -- of palm fronds. We never let my uncle and cousin live that one down.

  3. I think it was done accidentally, and if the owner of the kitchen reads your blog, she might be a little upset. :( Oops...

  5. It's tragic and funny at the same time. Can't imagine it was on purpose, it looks incorrect. Some one wasn't paying attention.

  6. I think someone is due a new paper job... at the expense of the paper hanger...

  7. What an interesting situation. The paper hung upside down is also not matched correctly at the joins. Notice the large oval shapes of dark background with a very small blob of leaf at its centre. Not the intention either, to create a 'wreath-like' effect.

  8. Big mistake indeed...oh boy! Personally that would make me CRAZY and it would have to be ripped down and put back up right. I have a post coming up soon about some of Farrow and Ball's wallpapers, some of them are gorgeous and I love their paints too. But this is a big mistake...ashame. Pretty paper though:)
