Please check out the beautiful work of Bay area decorative painter Warner Graves who has developed a niche specializing in Chinoiserie. With his strong background in art history and the fine arts, he creates one of a kind interiors and reproduction furnishings.
Wonderful examples.
ReplyDeleteWe have a mid century (Baker?) red Chinoiserie highboy that would look great with some of these prints.
What a talent!!!! Mercy me!!!
ReplyDeleteThese are very exceptional examples of contemporary chinoiserie work carrying on the tradition of Pillement and other artists of the 18th century artists. The red paneled room is simply beautiful. I'd love to see what's on the ceiling.
ReplyDeleteOooooooh, Beth! Fabulous post....the work is very nice.
ReplyDeleteTruly gorgeous. I'd love to have a gorgeous hand-painted Chinoiserie mural in my dining room someday.
ReplyDeleteExquisite, painted by someone with a serious understanding of the genre
ReplyDeleteLove the red! Did you see Mary McDonald's collection of bone pagodas in the new October issue of HB? Incredible.
ReplyDeleteI am assuming that is black fabric withe the red and gold bird.
ReplyDeletelet me know.

Perch-Sounds lovely.
ReplyDeleteVickie-Beautiful work.
ReplyDeleteWarner Graves-I love that room too.
ReplyDeleteTheresa-Thanks so much.
ReplyDeleteAverill-Something to look forward to.
ReplyDeletePussy-Wonderful work.
ReplyDeleteDesign in the Woods-Of course, gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteYvonne-It's a painted table top.
ReplyDeleteAs life changes, homes are sold, and people move, I would not want to have such gorgeous work attached to the wall. I think I would have to settle for canvas fitted to panels, or removable panels.
ReplyDeleteHis work is exceptionally good, and he seems skilled enough to do restoration work on the finest antiques or architectural work in palaces and churches.
Square With Flair-A good idea if you might move.
