Ginger Jars-Always in Style

A brilliant follower of Chinoiserie Chic who has the blog Treasure Hunt for The National Trust and who I am always learning from, reminded me of this wonderful John Singer Sargent painting at the Tate of two sisters next to a huge ginger jar. This was in his comment to my post yesterday showing the oversized ginger jar in Ralph Lauren's NYC flagship store the Rhinelander Mansion. The painting in turn reminded me of this great photo of Mary McDonald at her home next to a massive ginger jar. This is such a classic and timeless look. For more inspiration on using large ginger jars, read my previous post here.

  1. I loved your post on ginger jars, aren't they marvelous? I have one in my entry way at home but confess I want to use them ALL over the rest of the house.

  2. So classic. Sargent's portraits are some of my favorite works of art.

  4. Oooh you and I are on the same wavelength. I've been posting about ginger jars lately because I found a lot of them at Homegoods (I know, I know, but they are pretty decent looking)....I also posted a picture of a ginger jar at a Polo outlet with those mallets sticking out. Love your blog!!
