My Oscar pick for the category Best Chinoiserie in a Film for 2009 is A Single Man. Charlotte's Hollywood Regency bedroom is absolutely stunning with its Chinoiserie toile dressing table and ikat headboard and curtains. The ikat on the headboard is Laura Ashley's Tilbury Lapis. What is the chair covered in...feathers? Oh, my, I like this room a lot. I'm looking forward to tonight despite not seeing any films this year.
ReplyDeleteThe set designer deserves much praise for this movie. There was so much to admire and wish to recreate. Loved her boudoir' too!
ReplyDeleteI covet those gold dressing table lamps!
The green in the fabric makes me just a wee bit noxious, but overall the look of the room is fantastic! I love the layering with the screen behind that fabulous mirror. Why don't I think of stuff light that?!
ReplyDeleteLaura Ashley!?! I'm so surprised and impressed! That's gorgeous headboard.
ReplyDeleteHamptontoes-Have you been hibernating? The slipper chair is upholstered in flokati.
ReplyDeleteDeb-A great movie and sets.
ReplyDeleteThe Shiny Pebble-The mirror is African of inlaid bone and wood.
ReplyDeleteAmanda-Laura Ashley has some beautiful fabrics and wallpapers.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the photos and info re fabric! I saw the movie and was frustrated that the views of the boudoir were so fleeting. Love the Ikat!
