How do take your Chinoiserie? If you love pink, turquoise, fresh, modern, eclectic, young, and fun, check out this stunning portfolio of California interior designer Hillary Thomas. One of her guiding design principles is the Japanese design concept of "wabi sabi" or finding beauty in the imperfect. Her mix of flea market finds with fine antiques brings an aesthetic that is refreshing, unexpected, and unique.
The Spring look is refreshing, I must say that I am drawn to the more neutral of the rooms in the middle and at the end.

I love Hillary -- she reminds me a lot of Ruthie Sommers. Young and colorful, but still rooted in tradition.

ReplyDeleteWow, so pretty. I like some more than others....but I am loving the vibrant colors!
ReplyDeleteOK, that was just too good... I didn't know how much more I could take. That is what I love about chinoiserie, how it breathes the exotic into a space. Clearly I need to know more about Hillary Thomas because she rocks in my book. Each photo was incredible. Her use of color is pure genius. I haven't been this excited about someone since Windsor Smith. Thank you so much for this wonderful post on her designs.
ReplyDeleteHi, I mentioned your blog in my latest entry and linked it back to you. Thanks for the inspiration. :)
