Here is a wonderful way to transform a dull white kitchen into a Chinoiserie dream in this great example from Lonny. The wallpaper is Farrow & Ball from their Lotus Papers Collection. See my previous post
here. Add a black and white ginger jar, a white Chinoiserie mirror, a crystal chandelier, and a bench upholstered in orange velvet. Notice the vase of orchids-I always have an orchid in my kitchen-an easy and elegant Chinoiserie touch.
I did love that kitchen. if only I had the balls for that wallpaper
ReplyDeleteI love the chinoiserie drama in a small utilitarian space. It works and it's fabulous!!
ReplyDeleteThe wallpaper is gorgeous, and I would not have even thought of going down this road! It works!

ahhaha! Appletree, that comment is HILARIOUS! I, too, have no balls for a wallpaper as bold as that. Maybe for a tiny bathroom where if it didn't work I could tear it down and not be out a few thousand bucks!
ReplyDeleteI love this tiny little kitchen. It's perfection!

Wow that wallpaper is stunning!
ReplyDeleteA bold choice. I like the way he took this tiny kitchen and made it his own. No hesitation. No second guessing. He simply created a space that works for him and makes him happy. I love the unexpected brought it (bench, mirror, paper) into the kitchen. The room cooks!
ReplyDeleteThe genius and talent that is Ryan Korban!
ReplyDeleteAppletree-Not for the timid, but quite fabulous!
ReplyDeleteLa Dolfina-Yes, it elevates a tiny space with ugly cabinets and appliances to fabulous.
ReplyDeleteKarena-I have always thought that the smaller and more nondescript, that's the time to go bold!
ReplyDeleteAmanda-I would love to use it in a powder room. It would also be great on one wall in a kitchen.
ReplyDeleteBazaar of Serendipity-I love it-brilliant!
ReplyDeleteCC-I really enjoyed your post on wallpaper.
ReplyDeleteHome Before Dark-I am a big fan of bringing wonderful things into your kitchen-I have Chinese Chippendale chairs, Brunschwig & Fils, orchids, oil paintings, foo dogs, to name a few.
ReplyDeleteDomestic Goddess-I love his place.
