Banquettes have migrated from your favorite place to sit in a restaurant, to the breakfast room/eat-in kitchen to the dining room. Now banquettes are popping up in the living room and with good reason. They are a space saving way to create a second seating area perfect for reading, a cup of coffee, a cocktail, a light meal, hors d'oeuvres, conversation, and especially for entertaining. I am a huge fan of banquettes for so many reasons! They can be quite simple or quite extravagent. I did a posting of the one in my kitchen and I also have one in our living room (not yet posted). Love the ones you have picked to share!

ReplyDeleteMy favorite is Mario Buatta's. I have wanted a banquette as long as I can remember; do I have one, sadly no. I have not one wall conducive to doing so in this particular home. Averill was creating a beautiful space with one I remember reading.

ReplyDeleteI adore turkish banquettes and consider them to be absolute chic. Such a sensible means of utilizing difficult corners in many rooms in houses of style and elegance. Am particularly fond of the Windsor's room in the watercolor by Alexandre Serebriakoff, a great favorite. Most enjoyable post!
