Styling the China Kitchen Cabinet

de Gournay

I love a beautifully styled kitchen cabinet filled with fine china and glassware. This is a stunning example above. Often there is wallpaper backing the cabinet like this exquisite de Gournay above. Nowadays, there is lots of great peel and stick wallpaper available making this a fairly easy project to tackle.

Here is another pretty example by Amanda Lindroth with a painted back. But the cabinet is surrounded by chinoiserie wallpaper.

The china is Lenox British Colonial. I have finally finished collecting 8 place settings of this "discontinued" pattern. I put this in quotes because I think Lenox has brought it back because stock has started reappearing at Lenox here.

I will have to work on styling my cabinet of British Colonial. It has been fun but challenging collecting it because it comes in lots of designs to mix and match - at least a dozen different plates and bowls not including all the serving pieces.

Here is one of my pantries that I converted to blue and white Chinese porcelain, china, and glassware storage.

Speaking of Amanda Lindroth, she finally has a new book coming out in October! It is available now for pre-order.

Island Dreaming by Amanda Lindroth

Since the publication of Island Hopping in 2018, the demand for Amanda Lindroth’s airy, relaxed, indoor-outdoor aesthetic has soared, and she has completed enough commissions to fill a new volume. Island Dreaming features 20 recent projects, one more enticing than the next. Lindroth brings her signature style of boldly colored fabrics, rattan and cane seating, canopied beds, and straw matting to homes ranging from cozy cottages to grand houses in Lyford Cay, on Nassau; Albany, on the island of New Providence in the Bahamas; Baker’s Bay, on the island of Great Guana Cay in the Abacos; Manhattan; and Palm Beach, Florida. Though Lindroth’s style remains unmistakably hers, it’s now perceptibly richer, more sophisticated, and, at times, more whimsical. Illustrated by the lushly detailed photographs of Dylan Chandler, and featuring lovely illustrations by Carlisle Burch, Island Dreaming will be coveted by everyone who can’t get enough of Lindroth’s easy-breezy tropical vibe.

A wicker cover again, just like her wonderful book Island Hopping, one of my absolute favorites.

  1. I saw some darling rattan butterflies in the $1 section of Target today and thought of you. They would look amazing incorporated into a floral arrangement
