Chinoiserie Kitchens on a Budget

I love these two kitchens. Both would work for renters, assuming you are allowed to paint, or for those on a budget. They are also a perfect solution if you have existing cabinets you'd like to give a face-lift to. I personally love painted kitchen cabinets. In the top kitchen, the cabinets are painted in a robin's egg blue and the walls are papered in a Chinoiserie wallpaper. In the kitchen below, the cabinets are painted yellow and gorgeous Chinoiserie chairs add great pizazz. The wallpaper is Chinoiserie by Thibaut and the chair is the Kartell Mademoiselle Chair in Chinoiserie. Easy, breezy, and gorgeous way to transform your kitchen. I have shown the wallpaper and chairs used in the photos, but any Chinoiserie wallpaper and fabric could be substituted. Don't settle for a sterile white kitchen when you could have this. Another great shot of the chair at Perch. Recognize the Thomas Paul plates I have posted on before?

  1. I agree. I am hoping that real kitchens where people really cook will start to emerge. Always prefer soul and personal, artistic vision over the cookie cutters.

Off topic: finished More Is More...and it is! Wonder what a Duquette kitchen would have looked like?

  2. I love that chair. I've got my eye on it as a vanity chair for my master bath.

  5. Home Before Dark-That is on my Christmas list. I think he would have lacquered cabinets in red, black, or coral pink, a coral chandelier, and lucite counter stools.

  6. I love both kitchens, and I too love painted kitchen cabinets. Nothing wrong with a little personality in the place we spend so much of our work time! The wallpaper is so unexpected in a kitchen, love it!!
