Eddie Ross & Chinoiserie Flea Marketing

Here I am with Eddie Ross at the home of Michele Ginnerty of My Notting Hill. Michele hosted a DC design blogger party on Friday night in honor of Eddie Ross and his partner Jaithan Kochar who were in town for the weekend. Thanks to Michele for a lovely party and a wonderful opportunity to meet Eddie and Jaithan and connect with even more DC design bloggers. As promised, this weekend's finds. If you ever told me I would have something in my home from J.C. Penney, I would have told you to have your head examined. But I couldn't resist this Chinoiserie footstool after my post on Friday on Ralph Lauren's beautiful Chinoiserie table especially since I saw no faux bamboo pieces this weekend. I plan to paint it and recover the seat in a great fabric. At $99.95 with free shipping (through today, the Code is FALL49), I thought it was worth a try. Since my daughter Kate has her own gorgeous apartment in Georgetown and loves Chinoiserie as well, I know it will find a home. Then below, three actual flea market finds. First, an antique Chinese soapstone carved double vase with intricately carved stems, leaves, and birds. Next, a wonderful blue and white vase with stripes. I've shown it on a sample of the Ralph Lauren toile I have used in the bathroom where it will go. The designs are perfect together. Last, a very fierce crackled celadon foo dog. Although there was only one instead of the usual pair, he will go well in a Chinoiserie vignette where a duo is not needed.

  6. I knew you were going to have fun! One of life's little treasures THE HUNT for the MISSING FOO. He may your way come some day. Love the stripes on the vase. Interesting roundabout about invention and knock off on Decorno. Your JCP horror moment has gone global, really really global!

  21. That JCP stool is great -- and you're right, it's a great substitute for the RL stool! I can't wait to see how it looks repainted/recovered.

Great thrift store finds, btw....but I want to hear all the dirt on Eddie. Is he just like he was on Top Design?
