There are of course countless uses for a chinoiserie bowl. You can use one as a serving piece on your table, as an organizer for keys and such on the entryway table, to corral makeup or jewelry, amd much more.
Recently I have started using my collection of Chinese bowls to hold my growing collection of mahjong tiles. I love having them on display instead of hidden in pouches. Above is a Mottahedeh for Winterthur Chinese dragon bowl - perfect for mahjong since one of the suits is Dragons.
Below is a bowl from my collection of Lenox British Colonial.

I have just received a beautiful new set of coastal beachy tiles in greens and blues. I just ordered this blue and white Chinese bowl to hold them. I will post when I receive the bowl. It is a large 15 inches wide which is perfect because the tiles are large.

My Chinese porcelain bowls contain pine cones or sea shells. I have so many of both, it's time to get another bowl!
