Happy St. Patrick's Day. I miss St. Patrick's Day in DC - great Irish bars like The Dubliner in DC and Murphy's in Alexandria, Virginia and of course the St. Patrick's Day parades.
Here are some green picks in honor of the day.

I lived in DC for over 20 years and went to the Dubliner often! One of my favorite bars! Murphy's in Old Town is wonderful too!
ReplyDeleteThis is going way back and likely before your time! Did you ever go to Matt Kane's Irish Pub before it closed in the late 80's? That place was special!
ReplyDeleteI have great memories of Matt Kane's Bit of Ireland bar in DC. Opened in 1960, closed in the late 80's.
ReplyDelete"You won't find Kane's listed among the trendy bars of Georgetown, Dupont Circle or Capitol Hill. Matt Kane's sits on the fringe of old downtown at 1118 13th St. NW. The 100-year-old, two story row house that contains the bar shares a block with a parking lot and gas station."
I went to Matt Kane's many many times. I was dating an Irishman who loved the place. We also used to go to the Irish Times - lots of writers and journalists hung out there.
