Next week is the eighth and final episode of
Feud : Capote vs. The Swans and I will be sad to see it go. A compelling story and great acting and the sets and clothes have been quite fabulous. I hope you have been following it. Catch it on FX and Hulu.
The Swans - Babe Paley, C.Z. Guest, Lee Radziwill, and Slim Keith certainly knew how to dress.
If The Swans had one thing right, it was style. Tuckernuck has done a roundup of looks inspired by the high-society, ever-fashionable ladies. See it here.

I love this dress - perfect for me for the ballet and opera and dinners at Michael's on East.
Thank you!! Great style….
ReplyDeleteThose were the days. Women cared and took effort to look good at all times, even those who were not necessarily "swan" material. They stayed trim (unfortunately, smoked) and dressed to complement their body type. That may still be true among a certain class, but overall the standards have definitely dropped.
ReplyDeleteYou chose my favorite. A real beauty!
ReplyDeleteIt's a great mini series.
ReplyDeleteI hope this does not sound shallow or superficial, but I find it so unfortunate that so many people, not just women, have become so lax in their appearance. I think it's nice when someone makes an effort to looking attractive and stylish. The other thing is that it's so very hard to find clothes that are stylish, well made, not insanely priced, and made of real fabric - not plastic! Fashion labels and clothes companies are now owned and run by corporations who have shareholders. They are certainly not fashion designers.
Tuckernuk hit the nail on the head! Those are perfect iterations of what the modern day swan would wear based on their personality. Fun to see
