Creating a Chinoiserie Entrance

via The Scout Guide

With its blue door, Chinese Chippendale railing, and pair of blue and white Neirmann Weeks Leone urns, this is an elegant front entrance with chinoiserie style.

Here is more fabulous inspiration. Adding some chinoiserie elements to your front entrance is a wonderful way to bring personality to your home before you even enter.

A brass pineapple door knocker would be wonderful, but one with more tropical than colonial style -

And blue and white of course -  this blue and white Ming fountain is stunning and has been reduced from $2200 to $600 -

To fill the containers, I love palms or topiary Eugenia in warm weather climates, boxwood topiaries in cold climates.

A great doormat is a must -

And lighting with a pagoda feel -

And I thought you might get a kick out of seeing my new gold bamboo flatware after I hand washed and polished each of the 54 pieces yesterday. Every piece is in perfect condition - quite the find. It looks like a runway of gold bamboo. The oyster forks arrived after I took this photo and I am getting some fabulous shellfish today to try them out.

  1. About your (& my) tulipieres.... I purchased the same ones from an antique dealer in Frederick, MD who didn't know the provenance. I love them so it doesn't matter what they cost, but do you know anything about their origin? I have high and low chinese porcelain throughout my home. The high certainly elevates my homegoods finds, but these were not homegoods finds for me, and I'm so curious about these.

    1. Not vintage nor antique. Just nice quality new pieces I got online seriously cheap from a store that was going out of business.
