Styling the Lanai

CCC Lanai

Look who wandered into the lanai today. And please, no comments about rabid turtles - LOL. (Every time I post about wildlife, I get a rabies lecture. You'd think rabies was a pandemic. There has been ONE death from rabies in the history of this country from a rabid raccoon BTW).

The raffia turtle is huge and has a galvanized metal interior so he can be filled with ice and beverages for entertaining. My HG find yesterday. So cute. And to the person who keeps commenting complaining every single time I post about HomeGoods, please please please go away. Because HomeGoods is not going away. It's one of the few normal things I do away from my house nowadays. I am wondering how long it will take for HomeGoods to tap into the whole wicker/rattan craze in interior design. I can't wait.

BTW, the bar cart, wicker pineapples, calligraphy brushes, and tortoiseshell decanters are all from HG. I feel that the lanai has sort of a British Colonial island vibe that I like a lot. I love the idea of an orchid collection in the lanai too. Speaking of orchids, I have been reading up on growing orchids on trees and have received several questions on the subject and I have also had questions about my alligator topiary, so both will be the subject of tomorrow's post - God willing and the creek don't rise.

And from my garden this morning....

  2. So much fun watching your progress. Whoever is leaving nastygrams about Home Goods, there are lots of other places on the internet, or maybe just go for a walk. 😀 I brought lots of garden stools, blue & white porcelain, and statues when I moved home from Hong Kong only to find that Home Goods was full of it. Why did I drag all that stuff across the ocean?

  3. I love your posts about your Home Goods finds! Home Goods is like a treasure hunt. The turtle is adorable. It’s cool that it has multiple functions. I have always loved British Conial style. The contrast of dark wood and lighter walls is such a beautiful contrast. I also love campaign furniture especially with brass accents.
I can’t wait to hear of your next Home Goods adventure! Have fun.

    1. Thanks. I have really spent no time or money on it at all yet, but I am focusing on it next. It's a great space.

  5. Money and style are not the same thing. You are great inspiration with your Goodwill and HomeGoods finds that treasures can be found everywhere if you have an eye for style like you do in spades. I love your blog.

  10. OMG, your alligator topiary, I love it! (I have a large ivy covered deer topiary in my back yard - more in keeping with northern CA.) And those cascading white and yellow flowers are beautiful. What are they?

  11. Oh, pleazzzze. If someone doesn't like your HG crush, just let it go.I agree with above enjoy what you enjoy and if the reader is so offended, she should create a her own blog! Would I decorate my house like yours? No (probably because I lack good karma HG finds). But does reading your blog make me smile? YES! Enjoy your day.

  12. Love the turtle! Was in HG yesterday for the first time since March and they really have scaled back on their inventory. I could actually get down the aisles which was nice. I saw a fair amount of blue and white porcelain and thought of you😊
