September arrives this coming Tuesday and I for one am very excited. I love decorating for fall, Halloween, and Thanksgiving. My plans are already underway.
I am not the biggest fan of orange for fall decor, and I'll bet many of you agree. I can't stand traditional orange pumpkins, for example. But today with all the fabulous heirloom pumpkins, there are pumpkins in white, celadon, and blue - very Chinoiserie Chic!
Here are some great new things from Dillard's always fabulous Southern Living Collection for a chinoiserie autumn. Start using these now - and perfect for setting the Thanksgiving table too. And there is lots of blue and white.

These fabulous pagoda lanterns are reduced from $55 to $19.25 -
I love those georgeous dishtowels! I formerly shared your thoughts about orange. But I've come around 180°. I think that orange & peachy-colored pumpkins, whether velvet or real, look beautiful with blue & white. I think they warm up autumn decorations so wonderfully.
ReplyDeleteMajolica and some transferware I don't usually associate with chinoiserie but they make for THE loveliest tablescapes, don't they??? the rattan placemat/"chargers" really look so nice!
ReplyDeleteI also struggle with brown as Thanksgiving approaches. Instead I use shades of green and that beautiful muted russet red seen on pears and apples. Boom, done. Cheers!
