Chinoiserie China Lookalike

Ginori 1735 Oriente Italiano

The "it" china pictured above and below is Ginori 1735 Oriente Italiano. Ginori 1735 is a historic, luxury Italian brand specializing in high-end, hand-painted porcelain tableware, home decor, and gifts. Founded in Florence nearly 300 years ago, it merges centuries-old tradition with modern design and artistic collaborations. It is known for iconic, vibrant collections like chinoiserie Oriente Italiano.

It is available in many colors. It is very $$$$. One charger plate runs $260.

I found some melamine dinner plates and also salad plates that are quite reminiscent and a fraction of the price -

It is available in three colors. I love these for elegant al fresco dining.

Also available in salad plates.

I would love these for entertaining in my lanai. And for the ultimate picnic and tailgate.

  2. Great find! I’ve recently been thinking about collecting the pink, blue or green dinner plates for a wall decor installation. I just love the colors. Too bad the melamine versions don’t have the same background colors but I imagine that would be lawsuit territory?!

  3. Ginori is beautiful. The melamine is a terrific find. What I really love in the first photo is the china shown with the Ginori. I'm not sure if it is Vista Allegre's Blue Ming, or William Sonoma's Blue Ming. (They may be one in the same.)

    1. I did say "al fresco dining" which would of course include by the pool.
