Jackie Kennedy, Italy, circa 1960s |
Jackie Kennedy was such a style icon. Scarves were very much part of that persona and there are a myriad of photographs of her donning a scarf, often Hermés.
Besides being quite chic, scarves are practical as well. They are great on a boat, in a convertible, or on a bad hair day. Scarves can be worn in so many ways - on your head, around your neck, as a top, or tied around the handle of your handbag.
I posted last week on this great St. Tropez T-shirt I grabbed last weekend. Of course, St. Tropez was a favorite destination of Jackie Kennedy.

They also have this elegant design in a silk scarf. I find it funny that J.Crew calls their scarves oversized bandanas. I assume they feel that the word scarf sounds dated. Similarly, coats nowadays are often called jackets.
At any rate, I think this is a great scarf that I would use a lot. I am wearing this Mark Sikes MDS Stripes dress tonight and it would look great tied around my handbag handle.

ReplyDeleteHave fun!
Great Jackie pic, haven't seen. Curious. Do you think her scarf 'thing' began with her hairstyle (hair spray) needing protection en route to her next destination? Only thought of this, seeing your pic. Been scarf lady forever, long neck.
ReplyDeleteZillion boat hours, zero in a dress with scarf. Alas, only ski boats and a few pontoons, the best a john boat fishing with my beloved WWII veteran friend. Always caught more fish than him, he was always having to stop and take my fish off, and put new worm on !!!
Love this boat !
