Crazy for Coral

Ruth Burt International

Coral is a favorite color of mine - it is gorgeous paired with just about any other color - ice blue, pearl gray, navy blue, chocolate brown, pinks, reds, and oranges, spring green, the list goes on and on. It is sensational with Chinoiserie - blue and white Chinese porcelain, celadon, black and gold lacquer furniture, and Chinese red.

Coral is fabulous in Florida and is looming larger in my wardrobe and my home.

For ages I have had a signature nail polish color for my pedicures - Chanel Black Pearl. When Chanel discontinued it, I bought a lifetime supply from remaining stock. It's a stunning color, but seems more urban to me. So yesterday I got a manicure and pedicure and switched to OPI Cajun Shrimp and love it! It's a coral red - perfect for all year round here.

And my new Louise Dahl-Wolfe "Models at the Beach" (to be hung next week) will be a perfect addition.

Coral can veer more orange or pink or red and all are gorgeous. I personally think that in Florida or tropical venues or at the beach, one can go more full in with coral, and in the city and the burbs it works best as an accent color for pops of color. Here is some coral inspiration.

  6. What a wonderful post. Coral and pink are probably my two most favorite colors. The coral quilt and pillows on that bed are so lovely. The quilt fabric looks like it might be made of chintz - a fabric which has been out of style for some time now, but I love it's polished sheen.

Your inspiration board is wonderful. What are those "twiggy" or faux bois chairs?

I remember you posting that Amanda Lindroth bedroom before, and it makes me smile every time I see it.

That Coastal Living entry hall is fabulous! I love everything about it. What is the object hanging on the front door knob? It looks like something woven.

Your wardrobe is quite impressive, Beth. So much eye candy!

    1. Chintz has made a bit of a return and is not as hard to find now. The chairs are by Marjorie Skourus. I love fashion and dressing up! Florida is a bit more casual than I am though.

  9. I have worn Cajun Shrimp for probably ten years. Is a favorite of nearly every woman I know in Texas.
I have a print of the monkey on the flamingo’s back. After talking to the artist I bought the wonderful print over eight years ago. Hangs in my dining room and I love it!
