Many bloggers have posted about how chevron is a trend that is over, but I beg to differ. Chevron is timeless, just as Chinoiserie is. Chevron in art dates back to at least 1800 BC, where examples can be found in early pottery and rock carvings. Just because chevron has been hot the past few years does not mean that its time is over. Moreover, its bold geometric presence makes it a perfect foil to Chinoiserie and they work beautifully together. Here are some lovely examples I have chosen of the timelessness of chevron. So don't believe everything you read and don't put away that chevron. Visit my chevron Pinterst board and even better, follow all my Pinterest boards here.
I agree with you! I try not to follow "trends" but if I see something I love...I incorporate it into my design and hopefully will love it for a really long time! Take care, Caroline
I have loved chevron since I was a small child and visited a family friend who had chevron patterned wood floors. I agree that it is timeless. I was happy when it became popular because then there were inexpensive options for me to decorate with. I have a black and white chevron rug in my living room and love it!
Chevron is timeless. It will never be "done". There may be years where it is, or isn't, featured in the shelter mags. But those who love it don't care.
I've never been a big fan of Chevron patterns, so their easy availability these last few years hasn't been much help to me, but personal preferences aside, chevron is only "done" for the short-attention-span crowd--which I try to ignore anyway.
I agree with you, Beth. Chevron is here to stay. Love it.

It definitely seems to have staying power - and I think that's a good thing!

ReplyDeleteThank you for validating my love affair with Chevron! It is Fresh and Fun and Fabulous in my book!! xo
ReplyDeleteI love Chevron! The designers you featured have integrated the design so that it does not scream out and is not the focal point of the rooms.

ReplyDeleteChevron is a classic... it became popular during the Art Deco era, and it hasn't gone anywhere since!
