Chinoiserie Gone Terribly Wrong

Eric Cortina

I just received the new Gump's San Francisco holiday catalog today in the mail and these are on the cover. Crystal encrusted ginger jars for the holidays - $3,300.00 each. I have no words for how tacky these are. Lyrics from my favorite Annie Lennox song No More "I Love You's" are perfect here - "the language is leaving me in silence. " Speechless. Money and style are not the same thing. Poor ginger jars.

A Chinoiserie Halloween

This photo popped up in my Facebook feed last night of my daughter and me from Halloween a few years ago. It was a Little Shop of Horrors party and I won first prize as the man eating plant. I thought it would be fun to post some Halloween ideas.

Here are some clever ideas from Society Social that work beautifully in this Chinoiserie living room. All are easy and fun. Apples are spray painted black, flowers are chosen with black centers, and canned lychees are stuffed with blackberries to look like eyeballs.

Styling The Bar Cart

Amanda Lindroth

I love a great bar cart and lately am especially drawn to wicker and rattan ones with a tropical vibe. I have just added two to my home. Bar carts are not just for booze anymore - they make perfect bedside tables and sofa end tables. The one above is styled with a potted orchid topped with seashells, framed photos, books, a wicker lamp, and more seashells.

I love this one below and have to find that bar towel. The cart is styled with an Amanda Lindroth Island Tray in orange and AL wicker glasses too. I'm off to find that towel - LOL.

The Perfect Bed

Willams Sonoma Home

Thanks for all the input and ideas yesterday on pillows and beds. I have lots to explore, and I will put something together as well on making the perfect bed. With all of us spending more time at home nowadays, it is more important than ever to have our homes as cozy and comfortable as they can be. The shams above in this wonderful chinoiserie bedroom are the Chambers Cane Embroidery Collection from Williams Sonoma Home and the monograms are Matouk. Are these his and her monograms?

If you have any more ideas on pillows and bed making in general, feel free to add them as comments today.
