The Chinoiserie Kitchen

Caitlin Wilson Design

I'm sure everyone has noticed the kitchen design trend of the statement range in a statement color. Many of these can cost as much as a car. Not really, but they can be crazy expensive. This beauty above is by Bluestar Cookery. My current appliances are in great shape but aging, so I am starting to think about what I will get to replace them. Not now hopefully - the shortage of appliances out there is astounding brought about by a combination of a crazy hot real estate market, the pandemic, and the shortage of microchips.

This blue range is stunning and really pops with the white cabinets and countertops and blue and white Chinese porcelain. Do you like this look? Is it too trendy? What does one use for the rest of the appliances? Your thoughts....

  2. Love it but I think I'd go with more of a neutral color and add pops of color in other ways.

    1. That's exactly what I was thinking, but you stated it best. Better to neutral on the big purchases and add the of-the-moment color in other ways.

    2. That's the more traditional approach for sure.

  3. Perhaps stainless to match the handles on the stove...

  4. I love it, but I'm not sure I could commit to it. I agree with Natasha. One would have to really love it to go with this look. I would definitely pass on the blue oven knobs, and go with one of the more neutral metals on the oven.

    1. I also love matte black and matte white. I like the idea of the range being a focal point.

  5. I believe one can just about have their appliances painted any custom color, if they wanted to spend the money.

    1. You have a good memory. LOL. I still need appliances so they may as well be beautiful.

    2. Ha ha, that's so funny. I do agree. If it's a necessity, it might as well be beautiful too.

  8. I love the range but not the matchy hood. Matte white appliances are beautiful too. I think I would like this kitchen better with less white-from a person who loves white!!

    1. I love matte white - GE's Cafe series is really nice.

  9. Love the color for the stove but not for the hood…says the person who never uses color except in accessories…if I bought a blue stove my family would have me committed for observation…way out of my lane but I do love it…

    1. LOL. Definitely in my lane. All white kitchens are looking very dated to me. So over them.

  10. They panel the other appliance to match the cabinets. It really can be stunning.

    1. Yes, that's a great look, but I have existing wood cabinets they would not be able to match.
