Ralph Lauren

Ralph Lauren

Check out all the blue and white Chinese porcelain in this pool house in the RL Bedford, New York home. There are blue and white Chinese porcelain lamps, a garden stool, an orchid planter, and even for firewood. The beams are 16th century Belgian pine and the mantel is 17th century French limestone. I love the basket filled with coral as well.

  1. This is so good. Ralph Lauren almost always hits a home run.

    1. I'll have to try to find one I don't like if that's possible.

  2. One can not get better than Ralph Lauren.

  3. Beautiful and serene. No tchotchkes either to muddle what's really important. A room you can relax in without hurting your eyes.

It's not that Ralph doesn't know how to layer. His log cabins, for example, are full of interesting things that look like they have been collected and cherished over a lifetime. But this room is different, and Ralph's interiors reflect those differences.

Unlike some decorators who apply their same ol' bag of tricks no matter what.

    1. I agree especially since this is a pool house, not really living space.

  5. It's beautiful, as one would expect from Ralph. I just love that huge fireplace. There's something wonderful about a fire in a fireplace. I suppose it taps into some fundamental part of us as humans. California outlawed the building of wood burning fireplaces in new construction some years ago, and more recently has outlawed gas fireplaces. Just too much, in my humble opinion.

    1. I thought the gas fireplace ban was just ventless which are banned in many states because of safety concerns.

    2. Beth, you are correct about the ventless gas fireplaces. I should amend my comment by saying that more cities in California are working to ban the use of natural gas.

  6. So glad RL didn't succumb to the cliche of adding a "pop of color." Every time I turn on HGTV there's a designer or a home makeover client talking about a "pop of color." Enough with the dang "pops of color."

    1. I agree 100%. I'll post a beautiful blue and white room and someone always comments that it needs a pop of color. Heaven help me.

    2. My sentiments exactly about a "pop of color" or an "accent" wall. So many gimmicks...
