Displaying Face Masks

Danielle Rollins

Here is an idea for these crazy times we live in - Danielle Rollins displays her and her boyfriend's favorite face masks on a silver tray. Note the monograms on many of them - I love that.

Masks are not going anywhere anytime soon - I like the idea of making them fun and stylish. I have two really nice chinoiserie ones in my collection. This has motivated me to expand my stash. I refuse to wear those disposable ones. Luckily, every designer seems to be offering great choices, many with profits going to charities. Have you found any you really like?

We are all in this together - wear a mask. Stay safe and chic.

  1. Great idea and thank you for this post. I have gotten really cute ones from J. Crew and Lilly Pulitzer.

  2. I have some really cute ones, but prefer the disposable ones.

  3. I had a half dozen custom made by a local seamstress to color match my outfits. But it turns out the disposable ones are much more comfortable and better fitting.

  4. I got a cute set from Tory Burch a while back. You can add an insert to them as well, which I did when I recently went to the dermatologist. Looking for more though. Masks are here to stay. Cathy

    1. I ordered the Tory Burch last night - they are darling and the profits all go to charity.

  5. What a great idea! I store mine in a wide, clear vase so I can easily fish out one that coordinates with my outfit. My husband made me a bunch from Lilly Pulitzer fabric. He doesn’t understand why more people don’t wear fun masks—he says, “It’s like a T-shirt for your face!”

  6. Sadly, most doctor’s offices and hospitals onlyPlease allow the disposable ones. I’ve been told to remove the one I was wearing and was handed a disposable one on two occasions. Additionally, two of my adult children work in hospitals in South Florida and tell me those are the rules at work for staff and patients.

    1. Fortunately, I have not been in a doctor's office since this started. But that makes sense.

  7. I bought some Lilly fabric and made some fun masks--the kind with the seam down the middle, not the kind with pleats. They fit better than the disposable kind (and were super easy to make). So far, I haven't been anywhere that required the disposable kind but keep a few on hand for when I get my hair colored (it's just me and my stylist at the shop, but even so I wear a mask). Don't want to risk getting color on my pretty masks!

    1. Yes, my hair stylist has disposable ones as well. Same here - just the two of us, but we both wear masks.

  9. Any mask is more effective than no mask at all, but keep in mind that the fun, cloth ones are not nearly as good as the #1-N95, followed by #2--3 ply surgical masks.

If you care about safety, can't always practice 10' distancing and still want to look cute, please consider a surgical mask (or N95) as a base covered by a light fabric one.

I sometimes layer like that especially when I know I'll be in a more crowded place where distancing isn't possible like a grocery store or on Nov 3 when I vote.

    1. I am never in crowded places here ever, but scrupulously follow CDC guidelines of 6 feet and a mask.
