Saturday Inspiration

Mary McDonald For Chaddock

I had to laugh - in my feed just now on Pinterest was this Georgia Star Back carved chair at Chairish for $2,967 plus $399 shipping that I got at HomeGoods in perfect condition for $59.99 and stuck it in my Audi shipping. So for my totally obnoxious Anonymous commenter that complains about all the knock off junk at HomeGoods, what is Mary McDonald a knock off of?

And here it is happily ensconced in my master bedroom.

CCC

If any of you are John Derian fans (the decoupage guru), his Halloween collection for Target launched at 3 am and I was online ordering things in the middle of the night. A great piece that my daughter grabbed is this bones table that he designed to looked like faux bamboo and you get up close and realize it is bones.

I have a thing for black plants and ordered this black faux weeping willow -

Some items sell out fast with these Target designer launches, so Kate and I always order when the sales start which is always in the middle of the night.

We all love Scalamandre Zebras and I just saw these pajamas sets in this zebra pattern and lots more colors and patterns that would be great for sleep and lounging around the house. I like it in this pink colorway. Especially during this pandemic, it's great to have chic lounging outfits.

Happy Saturday - my handyman is due over shortly.

  2. I ordered the John Derain table. I’ve admired his work for a long time. I have a great tray with alphabet on it, a Target piece from a few years ago. I got carried away, bought several, will probably list on eBay. I’m also ordering the pajamas if I can figure out correct size. Thx for the tips.

  4. A great find that makes you happy is always a good thing no matter the price or the provenance. But when you stumble upon an authentic designer treasure you covet for way, way less (like your Mary McD chair), why that's like planets aligning and the heavenly choir singing. I fondly remember every. single. time it happened.

It reminds me of some bird species building their nests--collecting blades of dry grass, branches, ribbons, leaves, pebbles and anything that catches their fancy. Mesmerizing to watch how they choose things, carry them up, weave them in til it's just right. I can relate.

  5. I adore Mary Macdonald’s aesthetic and this chair is a perfect example of chic and creative. Your HG karma is amazing. And even a blue cushion! Perfection! Her book is fantastic-wish she would write another!

    1. The funny thing is that the Venice store was sketchy and now it is the best. Really weird - my HG's karma has moved with me.

  6. Beth, your spirit animal, really a bird, is a Bower Bird. So amazing, so magical. Nature never seizes to amaze.

  7. Can we all relate, or what? Maybe not to attract a mate but still...

    1. Just an FYI: I still have not received these PJ's so I just sent them an email.....the link in THIS post is no longer any good and their website is currently not available or is non-existent. If I hear nothing from them by Wednesday, I am going to contact my CC company and have them cancel and refund my money. I hate it when I stumble upon something I love and then it turns out not to be available. I will keep you posted!!!

  10. I live in Carmel CA and there is a new Homegoods nearby but they don't even begin to compare to what you have found in Venice!
