Girl Power

Update to yesterday's post on the delivery of my two sofas or couches or davenports. They were supposed to deliver them between 2 pm and 6 pm and the driver was to call me 30 minutes in advance and ring the bell upon arrival. My dogs heard a noise about 2:30 pm and I went to investigate - it was the delivery truck pulling away up the street having left the two sofas outside on the driveway with no phone call and no knock or ring.

So I was outside in shock looking at the two massive boxes - both on their ends - one is over eight feet tall - both blocking my car in the garage and both crazy heavy. I went inside to get shoes and when I came out my next door neighbor and neighbor across the street were both in my driveway ready to help. We three girls moved the boxes into the garage and they are safe until my handyman comes today.

Girl Power! What a great story. Then I went inside and called Article and bitched to high heaven.

BUT, I am especially excited about  the pink velvet sofa - I absolutely love this room. The pink and red and the animals and the whimsy make me so happy.

  1. It sounds like you have delightful neighbors, and all so thoughtful. The delivery was very poor. I can only imagine how many things are damaged with their poor system. Your office is turning out well,it looks very inviting. You will have an exciting day setting up rooms.. Enjoy!

  3. Un.Real.All of it. Those oafs, your neighbors, the breach of contract. I'm going to pray no damage came to those sofas during that brutish "offload" delivery. The best in humans and the worst in humans, a 5 minute drama, one performance only, all in your driveway. I'm also going to pray that Handyman brings a friend to heft those glorious sofas inside your house! Please don't make us wait 'til tomorrow to see them in place! Congratulations, yet another gift from the Universe! Blessings upon you, my dear...

    1. Thanks - too much drama all the way around - read today's post. And handyman did a great job all by himself and he is not a big guy - just very smart.

    1. It wouldn't have looked that good with an entire blank space where the sofa goes. Thank you.

  5. You certainly know how to choose a house - what wonderful neighbours! The bowls on the red table remind me of Williams Sonoma chinoiserie collections, have you seen it? So much prety tableware.
Can't wait to see the sofas!

  6. Wosers! What a mess.Glad you have handyman backup. And BTW, I wouldn't wanted to on the receiving end of that phone call to Article! Back in the day when I was faced with phone call at work where I was right, I referred to these moments as "recreational butt kicking". Sometimes, a girl's gotta' do what a girl's gotta' do! I'm seeing you kickin' back on the pink sofa with a suitable beverage in hand!

    1. Finally remembered to say what I forgot yesterday and that is thank you for being the inspiration for my rattan cart/bedside table! I chose the smallest bedroom in our 5 bedroom house for our "sleeping chambers" because we are empty nesters and don't need to "escape". Unfortunately, when we went to Queen size, there wasn't much room for nightstands. I've looked at various options, and when you were talking about your various bar carts, I had the "OMG, why I haven't I thought of that!" It's perfect: holds my glasses, my phone, books and the kindle! Thanks for the inspiration!! And obviously, I should have spent a little more time proofreading my first comment!!!

    2. I love using bar carts as bedside tables. They are perfect. I have three although my favorite one was left behind at Sandbagger's along with other things by the movers, but that is a whole other topic and nightmare.

    1. Yes, my neighbors are all great. I find everyone here MUCH nicer and friendlier than Sarasota but that is just my personal experience.

  10. That is insane. I would be extremely upset. They couldn't even be bothered playing "Ding Dong Ditch". What if they had delivered to the wrong address? On the brighter side, your vignettes are lovely.

    1. It was a terrible experience. I would not order from them again just based on the delivery alone - way too stressful. But thank you.
