Rattan High/Low

Amanda Lindroth $799

Rattan has become very HOT, but so too have the prices with the designer collections of it. Although the lines of these coffee tables are not identical, they are quite similar, and this Urban Outfitters piece is great for the money. And I am not completely sure I like the inset glass on the Amanda Lindroth one. Both tables are 44 inches wide. $799 versus $179.

As far as quality, I have ordered from both Amanda Lindroth and from Urban Outfitters and trust me, the quality it not better IMHO with Lindroth's collection. I purchased two of her Island Trays, one in blue, one in orange, and they are just o.k. and were very expensive. I think her things are very high on style and very average in quality. Not bad, but not equal to the price tag at all.

Urban Outfitters has always had excellent home decor, and they are loaded with great rattan items right now. A follower emailed me that she has purchased several rattan pieces from UO recently and thought the quality was great, and the reviews on this coffee table are excellent. I am going to have a sofa and coffee table and television in my master bedroom and this coffee table would be a great look. I may never leave the bedroom.

And if you like those cute little wicker chandelier shades at Amanda Lindroth for $79 each -

Amanda Lindroth $79.00

This one from Ballard Designs is $26.00. It comes in four different styles and gets great reviews.

Ballard Designs $26.00

Please tune in tomorrow for my review of my Samplize paint samples and my color selections.

  1. I am a big lover of high/low mix. One of my favorite purses is a vintage rattan end table that I bought on Etsy for $52. And h€ll yeah to the wicker shades from Ballard... I just put them on all three chandeliers. I think Ballard is a bit of an unsung hero.

    1. I love vintage wicker/rattan. Agree completely on Ballard - great style at good prices - especially on sale.

  2. I love high/low comparison articles. Personally, I prefer the UO table. Classic design that you will never tire of--I am not a fan of the glass in the AL table. I love Ballard Designs--high style at a reasonable price.

  3. I prefer the UO as well. I don't like the design of the AL table. It doesn't look like it would be as sturdy as the UO. I've shopped Ballard for decades! High/low is the way to go.My late MIL always instructed "educate your eye on the way up, find your budget on the way down!!!"

  4. I actually like the design of the UO coffee table better. Is it strong enough to double as a coffee table/bench?

    1. It says 200 pounds so that's pretty substantial!

  5. I agree with Design Doctor... the UO table is chic, sleek, contemporary and tropical all in one! And the price is right. The AL table is lovely but not really excited about the glass inset.;) The high-end designer labels are always more $$, as is the case with apparel, shoes, handbags, etc. I am not really concerned about the branding when purchasing anything anymore; the quality is often the same in both high/low and really the most important factor. I often spray natural wicker items with a clear spray paint/lacquer to offer protection from spills and other unfortunate mishaps..makes for easier clean up. At this point in my life I am all about low maintenance without sacrificing style. You could test a spot under the table first to see how it works. Just a thought.

Your design plans are looking good!

    1. Thank you and that's a great tip on spraying the wicker.

  6. High style at a great price - can't be beat. Although I like the Urban version better, I prefer the smaller weave of the Lindroth shades. Just comes down to which visual pleases you. It is wonderful to have a true master bedroom refuge.
