New Home Ideas

Amanda Lindroth

This is the Veranda of Amanda Lindroth's home in the Bahamas. I am wild about the wicker palm chandelier - I am on the hunt for it for my new home. Any ideas? I suspect it is a Mario Lopez Torres which are very $$$$$$ that has been painted white.

Second, the floors are coral stone. This would be perfect for my lanai floor. They don't get slippery or hot and have such an organic and understated and timeless look. I am looking for a source nearby to get a sample, but they are apparently fairly easily sourced in Florida. Have any of you used coral stone? So pretty.

  1. Here's a small gold palm tree chandelier from PBTeen that might be cute someplace in your new home.

    1. Yes, and the price is a steal. I have been deciding where it might work. Thank you.

  2. I had not heard of Mario Lopez Torres before. What a delightful collection he has. I agree the wicker is better in white. This might have to be your ME ME present for your new ME house to celebrate this milestone in your life: something you'll always remember with a smile. I felt—still do—that way when I installed the Sub-Zero 48" pro fridge that I have named Mrs. Patmore for the cook in Downton Abbey. My husband, once over the need for CPR/sticker shock, has praised her mightily in these difficult days!

    1. The only thing I will miss about this house is the Sub-Zero. We could eat for three months without shopping. Yes, I really want a Torres, I keep hoping one will fall in my lap that is not the price of a car. LOL

  3. I love home before dark's comment and totally agree! One of the best things about being single is getting to choose what you want without comments from the peanut gallery!

    1. I could not agree more. Pink velvet sofa is on the radar, for example. And marble. Things I could not do before because of either too girly or messy men spilling red wine. LOL

  5. Yes, our home has unfilled coral stone floors in the powder room and on the fireplace hearth, facing and all the way up the wall. I love it. It never looks dirty. We had unfilled coral tile in a master bath & dressing room of another house 20 years ago.Our friends had it as decking around their pool but it filled with dirt and mildew and IMO was unsightly. I also love it filled. Pamela

  6. Thanks for the info - I suspect filled and sealed will be the way to go for a lanai, but I will do more research.
