2020 Trends - Painting the Front Door - Inside

Amanda Lindroth - Coastal Living

A trend I've been noticing is painting the inside of your front door in a contrasting color. Painting the inside of the front door black has been around for a while - I started doing that about a decade ago. But I love the idea of a real statement color. This is Dark Salmon by Benjamin Moore.

I have never been a fan of accent walls, but I really like this and it is a lot of bang for the buck. Blue is another great option that would look wonderful with Chinoiserie.

Coral, blue, emerald green, or red would all be great choices with Chinoiserie, especially in a nice glossy finish. What do you think?

  1. I like the light blue, but am WILD about that great salmon door! So happy and fun!!! What a great look! And I think Miles is really on his game in this room (despite the fact I don't really like that settee) and that dark blue door looks great!!

    1. That salmon door is to die for! I agree on the settee - doesn't work.

  2. Beth, I never heard of a lanai before you started writing about yours! But I checked out Amanda Lindroth's site because of your post today, and I notice in the Master Cottage in Palm Beach, she has one too. And the room in that cottage with the green table cloth, and the close up of the table setting with the
    fuschia orchids, are fabulous!!

    1. I love her style and since she is based in the Bahamas, it is great inspiration for my Florida home.

  3. I have a sample of Deep Salmon and have been wanting to paint the ceiling of my back porch but I am afraid it will make the top of the walls look coral. The inside of my lanterns are that color and I love them. Recently had the ceiling of my dressing room painted Razzle Dazzle and until the shelves went back in the top half of the room did look pink.

  4. I've always wanted to paint the outside of our front door a contrasting color, but there's no point because it's behind a hideous old security door that the owners of our building installed. I hadn't thought of painting just the inside... Our door is at the bottom of a narrow stairwell, so it wouldn't really be visible to anyone but me, but maybe it would be a nice pick-me-up when I go get the mail!

  5. I love paint anywhere. All my interior doors are black. Front door outside is a red coral or maybe could be a deep salmon with the reverse side (inside the foyer) black. Paint your ceilings, paint your closets (such a fun surprise to open a closet to a festive color) & for sure paint your doors inside & out!

  6. Hmmm....I have some Benjamin Moore 385, Savannah Moss, that I really want to put in some special place. This could be it!
