Ten Year Anniversary

My first post - de Gournay and Chinese Chippendale

Today marks the 10 year anniversary of my blog Chinoiserie Chic with over 4,500 posts. A fraction of 1% of blogs are ten years old, so it is an accomplishment of sorts. Did you know that I created the term "Chinoiserie Chic" and it is now used everywhere to describe interior design that incorporates Chinoiserie?

My life has changed a lot in the past ten years - I am now a widow, an interior designer, an empty nester, and about to put the house I have loved for 20 years on the market this next week. But through it all, Chinoiserie Chic has been a lovely escape that has brought nothing but positive energy into my life - creativity, a career I always wanted, new friends, travel, writing, and much more than I can put into words. Thank you to those who have followed me for years and to those who have found me along the way. This next year will bring lots of changes to my life, but this blog will be here, I promise. I hope you will be too.

  7. I remember you coined CC...and yes, I have seen it become its own life force energy. In headlines, cutlines, stories, blogs, your insight-inspiration the phase-concept has had a life of its own. Your laundry room still makes me smile. When you leave take all of your CC with you, the house will sigh in great sadness. Hope the next journey is as remarkable as these last 10 years.

    1. Such a lovely comment - thank you. I actually have enough of my laundry room wallpaper left that I can use it in my next laundry room that is much smaller than the current huge one. I suspect the next owner here might end up being a Chinoiserie lover given all the wallpaper, etc. here.

  9. I thank you for all these years of beauty and inspiration. The last ten years I've had a similar path, and it's been great to be able to decorate each new place. Before I started reading your blog I didn't have a name for what I loved for years! May you have many blessings in your journey.

  11. Happy 10th, Beth. I love CC, (and I LOVE your laundry room!) I remember when I first saw it, asking you where you found your brass colored metal racks. You told me you had the original metal brassed. I'm looking forward to seeing what magic you will work on your new digs.

  19. Thank you Beth! This is by far my most favorite place to turn for tasteful and magnificent inspiration when furnishing my home or that of my clients. I am relatively new to Chinoiserie Chic's eye candy party, one and a half years, but yours is always the first email that I open regardless of any urgency another may be posing! 😉 I wish you only good things for the next step in your journey and I am excited at the prospect of being on the Chinoiserie Express with you and seeing your new abode unfold with more layers of beauty! Love and blessings Beth!
