Chinoiserie Christmas

I just snagged a pair of these pagoda candle holders in this yummy mint color for 50% off at the florist in my shopping center. Deciding where to use them for the holidays. I have the same one in black and in red shown below.

  1. Dear Beth,

Although I am not very active on Pinterest, somehow I was fortunate to stumble upon your blog. I've been enjoying your beautiful posts for several months now, but until today, I never read your bio. I have a dear acquaintance whose family have been long time residents of Lake Forest. By any chance do you know Laura Rischer Brinkerhoff or any of her sisters?

When Laura lived in Rumson, NJ over 30 years ago, she piqued my interest in Chinoiserie and I loved to mix beachy accents with Chinese inspired furniture and colors. Alas, my new husband, a solid stoic Midwesterner does not think my fanciful colors and beach items are a good mix with our solid brick Western Springs ranch. The things we do for love.............:)

We live in a planned community which was originally a golf course, that has several sections within the total development. In the last few months, a new set of models, both home and town homes have just premiered. All reflect the Mid-Century Modern aesthetic, but the largest single family home model has a spectacular master bed/bath that you could have designed. It is clean lined with fantastic Chinese accents and colors.

When I was in Amsterdam last month, the premier department store there had a large display of Chinese inspired frames and tea sets by Wedgewood. I don't know if you have seen them in the US. Alas, I had not one spare inch of room in my luggage.

Sorry for the long post, but all these thoughts have been accumulating over the course of the several months your pictures have been brightening my day. The Lake Forest connection inspired me to write.

Also, if you do open your online store, will you have the candle holders that you featured today? If not, could you provide me with your florist's contact information or the brand of the candle holders as I am very interested in purchasing them to see if I can sneak them into a couple of spots in my home.

Thank you so much for all your hard work. I love it!

    Sincerely, Cathy Grimes

  2. Cathy,

Thanks for your lovely comment No, I do not know Laura, but have not lived in LF for a long time. The pagoda candleholders are sold at The Well Appointed House in several colors and a good price. Thanks again for your support and kind words. Happy Holidays!
