Resolutions 2015

I have two interior design new year's resolutions this year for my home.

The first is several projects on the outside of my house including a new roof, new gutters, and exterior painting. I will be exploring ways to incorporate my love for Chinoiserie outdoors. Perhaps a Chinese blue door, blue and white porcelain, or Chinese Chippendale woodwork?

My second resolution is to upgrade a few things in my dining room, including a new table and chairs and new window treatments. I am dying to finally replace my traditional mahogany Queen Anne chairs with Chinese Chippendale ones and I am so excited. I am still quite undecided on a dining table, so you can follow along on my search for the perfect table to pair with Chinese Chippendale chairs.

I hope everyone has a fun New Year's Eve planned. Mine will include dinner, Champagne, singing, and dancing with lots of friends, ending in a pajama New Year's Day brunch tomorrow at a French restaurant.

A Chinoiserie New Year's Eve - Serving Champagne

One of my favorite tips for New Year's Eve is Champagne splits (a quarter of a bottle). They are wonderful for entertaining - guests love them. And there is no need for glasses - buy fancy paper straws.

Christmas Chez Chinoiserie Chic

For my husband's man cave, I wanted to keep the Christmas decorations more masculine. At Lowe's, I found these camo stockings for about $5.00 each. Don't you think they are perfect?

Christmas Chez Chinoiserie Chic

To decorate my dining room this year for the holidays, I moved a pair of Chinoiserie lanterns to the console to give them more attention and added an ombre Christmas tree. The tree starts silver and then goes to gray and then black. I think it is so sophisticated. I left it unlit and undecorated to really show off its ombre. For a tree skirt I used some African mudcloth I had. The black and white works perfectly.

There is still time to enter my white Christmas tree guessing contest.
