Lavender
Benjamin Moore Iced Lavender |
I am starting to plan a room in my home that will be painted in a pale lavender. Have any of you used lavender in your own home? I would love paint color suggestions. The one above is Benjamin Moore Iced Lavender and I like it very much. I have never used this color in my home and I think it will work beautifully with Chinoiserie, especially blue and white Chinese porcelain. I'd love any ideas on sophisticated lavender paint colors.

The Balloon Shade
Last week I did a post showing a Chinoiserie balloon shade that elicited strong reactions both for and against its use in interior design today. I personally love a beautifully done balloon curtain and its variations like the London shade. I thought I would post a few more favorites, many combined with Chinoiserie.

Saturday Inspiration
Concerned about the price and portability of doing an entire room in hand painted silk Chinoiserie wallpaper? A framed panel solves both problems so effortlessly and elegantly. I also adore the lavender and yellow color palette of this room.

Balloon Shades
Are you a fan of the balloon or London shade or do they seem too 1980s to you? Here is a current example from Calico Corners with the shade done in a Chinoiserie fabric.

A Chic Nook
Such a great little nook - I love the Cole & Son Palm Jungle wallpaper, the black and white toile on the stool, and the handbags hung from hooks - both functional and darling.

Another Chinoiserie Fabric Find
I really like this fabric by Elizabeth Benefield called Melchior. Here it is in Multi and in Blue. It's also 100% linen which is great. And here is a new picture of Margot who is growing by leaps and bounds - she is up to 2 1/2 pounds.

New Fabric Find
In the fabric store the other day, I found a new fabric I fell in love with. It reminds me a bit of a favorite fabric of mine, Brunschwig & Fils Gillian S Zebras shown below.
Called "Best in Show" by P Kaufman, it combines Chinoiserie (Chinese Chippendale, blue and white Chinese porcelain, palms, and pagodas) and dogs and even has A Japanese Chin! I am planning to use it for a dog bed for our new Japanese Chin Margot. It also pictures Pomeranians, Pugs, Papillons, Scottish Terriers, Cocker Spaniels, King Charles Spaniels, and Shit Zhus.
Besides dog beds, this would be great for pillows, window treatments, tablecloths, a headboard, bedding, so many uses. And it is very well priced - if you search you will find it online at many vendors starting at about $16.95 a yard. It is available in Cayenne, Puddle, and Bone.

Styling The Summer Chinoiserie Bar Cart
Isn't this fun? Pink walls and a faux bamboo brass bar cart styled with all sorts of summer libations. Have you noticed that the pineapple is becoming de rigueur on bar carts? Use a fresh one in the summer and a vintage brass one in the winter. So chic!

More Tory Burch & Chinoiserie
The other day I posted a picture of the stunning Chinoiserie filled Manhattan offices of Tory Burch from Architectural Digest. I thought you might enjoy seeing more. I'm not surprised by how beautiful they are, since Tory Burch stores are always so well decorated. Tory Burch has a wonderful line of home decor as well - you can see it here.
