Chinoiserie DIY

I really like how this formal Louis XV bergere chair finished in silver has been upholstered in a fun Chinoiserie fabric for a great mix. You can find it here or copy this idea yourself.

Life with Margot

Many of you have asked for an update on our new Japanese Chin puppy Margot. She is doing great, eating and sleeping well and getting along with her big sister Izzy. An interesting fact about the Japanese Chin is that although it is famous for its importance to Japanese royalty, it originated in China. So Margot is very Chinoiserie Chic!

I also managed to finish my garage makeover and hope to take some pictures of it soon. My daughter Kate moves in a week, so we are knee deep in getting her packed. Life is crazy busy but wonderful. We are even having gorgeous, unseasonably cool weather here in DC. Life is good.

The Chinoiserie Entry

Thomas Britt - Architectural Digest

This entryway, with its walls, windows, and doors lacquered in Chinese red and leopard carpet would be the perfect introduction to a Chinoiserie filled apartment. Note too the marbleized woodwork.

And a big thank you to Tina from The Enchanted Home for including my laundry room in her post today.

Saturday Inspiration - The Chinoiserie Home Office

Neiman Marcus

A great office space with its black and white zigzag rug, black walls, Chinese Chippendale chair, and brass and lucite etagere from Jonathan Adler. Note the color blocked books and the collection of kid's art.

The Chinoiserie Dog - We're Home!

Furlow Gatewood

We arrived back home yesterday from a whirlwind trip to Pittsburgh. We stayed at the Omni William Penn and ate at Butcher and the Rye on Wednesday, then yesterday we picked up this little angel at the breeder and back to DC. It was Kate and my first time in Pittsburgh and we loved it! She's eating great and slept all night, so we are keeping our fingers crossed that she will settle in easily.

Fabulous Foyer & Fabulous Find

Kirsten Kelli Design - Veranda
Above, a wonderful foyer by the sister team of Kirsten Fitzgibbons and Kelli Ford featuring the iconic black and white striped Madeline Weinrib Buche rug, black fretwork Chinoiserie chairs, and blue and white ginger jars, with a peak of the hot pink sofa in the living room. The combination of blue, white, pink, and black is a great favorite of mine.

Below is a darling pair of blue and white ginger jar salt and pepper shakers - pick up a pair for yourself and several for hostess gifts and stocking stuffers.

The Chinoiserie Dog - The Bed

If money is no object when it comes to your pooch, this tole pagoda dog bed is too fabulous. By JM Piers, it is available here at Dalton Pratt in DC. It is available in several color combinations as well.

And here is more inspiration for Chinoiserie dog beds. I do not have sources - many are antique, custom, DIY, or things I have pinned over time.

The Chinoiserie Dog

This week my daughter and I will be bringing home our new Japanese Chin puppy Margot. I decided it would be fun for me (and I hope for you) to post this week on dog beds, bowls, collars, toys, and the like with Chinoiserie Chic style. Today we start with some darling dog toys.

These rubber tassel dog toys are so cute. These are pretty enough to leave out! Perfect for tug of war or hide and seek, you can even hide a treat inside.
