One Room Challenge - Week Four

Mark Sikes
Welcome to Week Four of the One Room Challenge. Between Easter weekend and my neighbors from hell fence crisis, this week really flew by. Luckily, I was able to get quite a bit accomplished in the Chinoiserie Man Cave.

I finished setting up the bar cart and it is great. You'll have to wait for the reveal to see it in all its glory.

Inspired by this wonderful masculine fireplace by Mark Sikes above, I styled the fireplace in the man cave and am very happy with it. It's a chic mix of abstract art and Chinoiserie. Here are some pieces I used to give you the idea.

This great vintage Fitz & Floyd dragon -

A black Harry Allen pig bank, one of my signature accessories -

This beautiful Chinoiserie lantern in black -

Other finds this week include a white juju hat and a Beni Ourain rug -

A black leather butterfly chair -

A Scalamandre black zebra golf umbrella -

A star like this one in the late Albert Hadley's apartment -

And I've started putting together the art -

I also did a great DIY. OK, so I didn't actually do anything myself, but it is a great "I came up with the idea and had someone else do it for me."

I bought this fringed lined burlap table skirt from Ballard Designs. It's $65.00 for the 90" but I got it on sale.

I had a bunch of black and white Greek key trim hanging around that I had gotten at JoAnn's for $5.00 a yard. I had my dry cleaners sew it on just above the fringe and it looks AMAZING. Masculine, textural, organic, elegant, and dirt cheap.

You'll see the table styled in the reveal, but here is a peek.

This coming week I'll be -

1. Hanging the art
2. Installing the new chandelier I had custom made

I hope everyone else has been busy -

  1. I love the Greek key trim on that table skirt. What a fresh take on rough and refined. Your husband must be happy that he will soon have his cave back, although I predict that you will be joining him in this space more often? You are killing me with that Chinoiserie lantern. Love this.

  16. Beth, since I live in Winston-Salem, NC, home to the Moravians of Old Salem, I heartily approve of your Moravian star. In fact, my son took a smaller Moravian star with him to Kyoto, Japan, last month to offer as a house-warming gift to his host and hostess (it reminded us of Japanese origami). Imagine packing that pointy and fragile object for an international flight! Best wishes.
