Earthquake!

A 5.8 earthquake hit here today in Virginia, as I'm sure everyone has heard by now. Incredibly scary. I was out and returned to find every picture in my house askew and several things fallen over, including a piece of blanc de Chine that was damaged. Of course, it could have been much worse. I think it's time for a cocktail though!

  3. I'm sure the folks on the west coast are laughing at us tonight, but we felt the quake in Greenville, SC, and I can tell you it rattled nerves along with the china.

  4. WOW!! We felt it up here in NY and I am quite shaken so I can imagine how you feel, so sorry for your broken dishes but thank goodness you are OK! It is scary when the northeast not at all known to get them, has one registering almost a 6.0!! Terrifying, I thought I was having an out of body experience, seeing my lamp shake then the crystal candleabra on my sideboard was going crazy...it was really something I have never experienced and hope not to again!

  5. Sorry to hear about your things getting damaged. Yes, we felt it here on Long Island, NY too. I was washing dishes in the kitchen, and the water filled glasses and pots in the sink, started to shift. Also some of the cabinet doors swung open too. No breakage though. I felt I was back on my father's boat again! I also hope to not experience that again. I'd never be able to live in California, I'm too chicken!

  6. It could have been much. Glad that bar is stocked and ready to serve. I hope this is the end of this heebie-jeebie from mother earth.

  10. I can't believe that some of my most precious antiques were unmoved even though they were on a somewhat rickety shelf. I am 30 miles from the epicenter and it was quite an event here.
