Latest Chinoiserie Finds

Here are three of my latest Chinoiserie finds. Above, a beautiful and huge antique blue and white ginger jar on eBay for $50. Just below, three reverse glass Chinoiserie paintings framed in gold bamboo for $56 on eBay. Bottom, a lovely vintage silk kimono with obi sash at a local thrift store for $60. Perhaps my best find ever is en route to me right now. I can't wait to share it with you!

  3. That vase seems to be a copy of one of the painted metal chinoiserie vases created for Charles de Beistegui at the chateau de Groussay (do a Google Image search for 'Groussay vases'). Or perhaps it is in fact one of them, since the collection there was sold in 1999.

  5. I just recently discovered your blog, and this is my first comment - I had to comment after seeing the ginger jar. It's beautiful.

My home is decorated in blue & white, specifically blue & white porcelain; I love ginger jars, and am building up my own little collection of them. I especially love the tall ones! It sounds like you got a real bargain!
