Kmart I Am So Sorry

My Kmart tray table finally arrived yesterday after my wimpy UPS man took two weeks to get it off his truck because of the snow we've had. But I have to say that my recent purchases from JCPenney and Kmart have been epiphanies. I take back having never set foot in your stores or gone to your websites. The tray table was beautifully packaged, took 5 minutes to put together, and is great. It is heavy, well made, elegant, and looks ten times more expensive than its $69.99 with free shipping. I have set it up in my sun room for tea and scones tomorrow morning using my daughter's childhood china by Mottahedeh. The ginger jar next to it I bought yesterday at HomeGoods for $20. Cute, eh? (A little Canadian Olympics lingo.) BTW, they have restocked the tray table and it is again available. Click on the photo to enlarge it.

  1. Good to hear it is well made....maybe I'll have to rethink now that it is back in stock.

  3. Lovely to see it unwrapped! Mine came one day last week and I have not yet removed it from the box..still deciding where to put it. I also purchased that same ginger jar from HG (2 of them actually-symmetry, you know)...a whole lot of "look" for not much money. Your display looks so nice. And I am green with envy over the miniature garden stool...I can't imagine where to find one but intend to keep my eyes peeled...please share your source. Thank you for another sweet post. Happy weekend to you!

  4. Vickie-HG only had one, and I am keeping my eyes open for a second ginger jar. As for the miniature garden stools, I have several-I find them at flea markets and thrift stores-always $10 and under.

  5. Love the blue and white. Got my tray table last week and it's better than I thought it would be. I have photos on my blog if you want to check it out.

  6. I think we have to have our eyes wide open. As we know good things/people often come from humble places. Your tray table is a wonderful example. Being a bit obsessive I might glue a decorative something (button perhaps?) to cover the screw. (If you do this, you have to cut the shank off with nippers.) Smitten by the garden chair.

  7. You can TELL how well-made it is - WHAT a find! Perfect little vignette you have there for tea and scones - can I come over? ;)

  8. Beth,

It looks so good with all your blue and white! I will have to share this with my sister. Once when we were out shopping together, I said I have to run into Wal-Mart and she said "You do that, I'll wait in the car". I kid you not!!!

  11. It looks great, Beth. I'm tempted now, though I'll need to think about where I'd put it first.

    ...Maybe in my office?

  13. Home Before Dark-I actually love stores like Target, HomeGoods, etc. I just had not realized that JCPenney and Kmart had gotten stylish! The bolts don't show-they are recessed in the holes. With tray tables, one does need to tighten them sometimes, so something glued on would be problematic.

  14. Really, I too have stayed away from JC Penney and Kmart for ever. You just have to search out these bargains in this economy though!!!
    I love it!

  16. I bought the same ginger jar only as a pair! Another serendipitous moment......you blogged about the oversized ginger jars and low and behold, that very same day.....there they were at Homegoods. Of course I had to blog about them.
