The Red Chinoiserie Bath

Red is such a perfect choice for a Chinoiserie powder room or bath. Red is hip and young, yet classic and timeless. The first example with its red lacquered walls and black and gold accessories is by New Orleans interior designer Anne Holden in Southern Accents. The commode and chair are stunning.

A beautiful room by New Orleans interior designer Melissa Rufty. I adore the wallpaper-Osborne & Little Summer Palace, the silk shade, and the corner commode.

This masculine bath is Joe Nye's featured in House Beautiful. The Laurent Stripe wallpaper by Cowtan & Tout is perfect for a gentleman's bath.

  1. I ripped out the page of the first image and have kept it for years...not in my client idea books...but in Jill's idea books. I LOVE it. Holden and Dupuy were my style inspirations...and Duquette of course!

  2. I grew up in southern Oklahoma with red dirt as far as the eye could see. Red is in my DNA. It was in my hair until it starting turning white. It is in my heart. I have red in every room. It is my neutral. Loved those red lacquered walls. Makes you want to dive right in!

  13. no. 1 is my favorite - really beautiful. I helped a friend paint a red wall a few years ago, and it was HARD - so many layers to build the gloss right. But the result is stunning.

  14. SF-Did you read my post on Hollandlac? It gives a close look without all the layers.
