Miles Redd's Chinoiserie Foyer

Where does one begin and end in extolling yet another masterpiece by Miles Redd featured in the July House Beautiful? This is a Chinoiserie foyer with great wow factor. But unlike our feminine Chinoiserie foyer featured yesterday, this one is for two men and has a masculine vibe. The unexpected color choice of chocolate brown for this classic de Gournay wallpaper, the neoclassical console, the faux malachite lamps, the doors in garden green leather with nailhead trim, the chevron floor, the baseboards painted brown. Here is Chinoiserie done modern, masculine, dramatic, unexpected, perfect!

  1. Miles Redd never gets it wrong. He's one of my design faves...in the ranks of Albert Hadley and Tony Duquette

  6. The chevron floor - oh and those leather green/blue doors - fantastic! It's such a powerful space, but not a bit heavy. Thanks for more great inspiration!

  7. Sanity Fair-I love that it is for an apartment of two men and done in a more masculine palette. Often people think of Chinoiserie as more feminine. This is not girly at all, just elegant and sophisticated.
