The Modern Chinoiserie Office

For those of you looking for a more modern approach to Chinoiserie, today is your day. But as a brief aside, Chinoiserie will never ever be Zen or feng shui or terribly neutral. The closest thing you will find to neutral is Blanc de Chine. As Hunton Wilkinson, President of Tony Duquette, Inc. said in an interview about Chinoiserie, "Tony and my idea of a beige room was coral." That being said, here is a gorgeous, modern, hip version of Chinoiserie, the office of Luke and Julie Janklow's Greenwich Village home as photographed in Vogue. The Gracie wallpaper deservedly takes center stage. I love the mix of the Chinoiserie wallpaper with the modern desk and chair. This is a stunning example of a modern Chinoiserie room.

  4. I think the reason I like Chinoiserie is that it's decidedly NOT beige. :)

  11. I would love to spend my days in this office--it would be like working with a garden view, even if you have no windows. Maybe I need to consider this for my little cubicle.
