Classic Chinoiserie Foyer

Interior designer Ashley Whittaker has packed some wonderful ideas into this rather small foyer space. A palette of blue, white, black and cream/gold keeps the look classic and elegant. I adore the way she painted the black wood floor to look like marquetry. The black and gold floor is echoed in the rather simple black and gold mirror. A pair of oversized Chinese temple jars add drama to the space. Blue and white Chinoiserie is again picked up in the vase, here filled with lovely white lilies. The end result here is a sophisticated, understated, and timeless approach to Chinoiserie that would be at ease in so many homes.

  5. This reminds me of an Ethan Allen chinoiserie ad I saw a year ago that was GORGEOUS - a hall table laden with around 9 blue and white ginger jars. It was so stylish and I was really surprised it was EA. Wish I could find the pic - in the meantime, this will work as my inspiration.
P.S. the carpet pattern is great.
